About IBANtool
A free, privacy-first toolkit for cross-border banking data — IBAN validation and SWIFT/BIC lookup, with everything running in your browser.
IBANtool was built to make two common cross-border payment tasks fast and private: checking whether an IBAN is structurally valid, and finding the SWIFT/BIC code for a receiving bank. Both tools run 100% client-side. The IBAN you paste is never uploaded, logged, or stored on a server — validation happens in your browser using the ISO 13616 MOD 97-10 algorithm.
The SWIFT/BIC dataset covers head-office codes for major international banks, sourced from public bank disclosures. It is a practical lookup aid, not a complete registry of every branch worldwide. For branch-specific codes, always confirm with the receiving bank before wiring funds.
What you can do here
- Validate an IBAN — format, per-country length, and MOD 97 check digits for 50+ countries.
- Look up a SWIFT/BIC code — search by bank name, country, or paste a BIC to decode it.
- Browse IBAN format & example pages for every supported country.
Important disclaimer
IBANtool only verifies structure and check digits. A valid IBAN does not guarantee the account exists, is open, or belongs to a specific person. SWIFT/BIC data may lag real-world changes. Always confirm details with the recipient or their bank before initiating a transfer. IBANtool is not affiliated with SWIFT, ISO, or any bank.
